The war offense is a mistake, it was supposed to be "Arena."Id focus on some cheaper options as long as you got decent stars. Dd5 isnt as hard as dd3 and 4 were, so best make sure you only take high investment characters if you will use them after dd5 as well. Fill out the team with reasonable, but cheaper options.
