Recently had the oil changed and the carbs cleaned and it runs as good as the day I bought it new. This bike is almost bulletproof.

Jun 13, 2020 · If the engine has problems between 1/4 and 3/4 throttle, the jet needle and needle jet (most likely the jet needle) is likely the problem. If the engine is running poorly at 3/4 to full throttle, the main jet is the likely problem. Fingers are crossed - but at least after this I know I will have all of the carby puzzle pieces. Real backfiring can do some serious damage and is generally a timing issue, running way too rich, or both. It can also be caused by a bad seal on the exhaust flange or a poorly seated carb boot. I recieved the belt drive conversion kit from scootworks (it took about 2 1/2 months) for my Kawasaki 800 Classic. The complete installation took me and my wife about 6 hours. I will say that it is a great addition to this machine. I no longer am 'searching' for a 6th gear.

A couple things that'll wake up the 800 I've done are to debaffle the stock pipes, and Grampsized the air filter housing, see link below. Great tips on here. Proper jetting needs done along with these mods. The 18/40 spockets really change the way this bike accerates, makes the gears stretchout more.
